UNHCR Advocacy Work
2002 to 2007
Geneva 2007 PreExcom and Excom Meeting Reports
In 2002, staff from the Centre for Refugee Research began to take an active role as observers in the annual executive committee meetings of the High Commissioner for Refugees (ExCom) and the Pre Excom meetings of UNHCR staff with the non government sector. In preparation for these meetings a comprehensive set of documents addressing policy issues relevant to the non government sector working with refugees in Australia are prepared by the Centre for Refugee Research.
These documents have formed the basis of the work of the centre at UNHCR in subsequent years. They are regularly updated by student interns, and are also used by the Australian Refugee Rights Alliance (ARRA).
CRR, in conjunction with Austcare, the Refugee Council of Australia, the National Council of Churches in Australia and ARRA, are pleased to make available the full range of reports from the Pre-Excom and Excom meetings of UNHCR in Geneva 2006.
A full set of the 2006 documents can be purchased on a CD available from the Centre for Refugee Research Shop.

UNHCR Advocacy Project - Searching for Solutions
In 2002, staff from the Centre for Refugee Research began to take an active role as observers in the annual executive committee meetings of the High Commissioner for Refugees (ExCom), and the pre Excom meetings of UNHCR staff with the non government sector. In preparation for these meetings a comprehensive set of documents addressing policy issues relevant to the non government sector working with refugee in Australia research in conjunction with the Australian Human Rights Centre. Theses documents have formed the basis of the work of the centre at UNHCr in subsequent years. They are regularly updated by student interns, and are also used by the refugee rights alliance.
Through this process, CRR has been able to present research finding at the highest level in UNHCR and has been fortunate to gain the support for the continuation of the Women at Risk Project from UNHCR Geneva. It has proved an invaluable venue for establishing links and networks with academics and organisations working with refugees at an international level.
